Fuel for fans – Platform to make its debut at Newcastle 500

The streets of Newcastle will become a foodie’s dream between 22 – 24 November 2019, with a fantastic variety of food trucks and beverage kiosks popping up as part of Supercars season.

In conjunction with the Coates Hire Newcastle 500 Supercars, local and national food vendors will be scattered around fan zones and spectator spots across the circuit, in addition to local hangout spot, The Station.

To compliment the cafes and restaurants within the track precinct that will operate throughout the event, local favourite eateries will be parked up at The Station, providing the perfect spot for General Admission ticketholders to sit, relax, eat good food, while watching the Supercars race past.

Nicknamed ‘Platform’ for the weekend, The Station will include plenty of outdoor seating and a big screen to live stream all the nail-biting action from the track.

“We’re so excited to offer this interactive space to ticketholders. Platform will be a relaxed, family-friendly environment – the perfect location to take in all the Supercars action, socialise and enjoy good local food and drink”, General Manager Operations at Supercars, Kurt Sakzewski said.

Taking centre stage at Platform will be Hunter’s favourite eateries. From Schillykickk’s Asian Fusion to premium meat dishes served from Islington’s best meat truck, Smokin Hot ‘n Saucy, there will be plenty of options to satisfy the fans.

Visit the Platform bar for a cold beverage to wash down all that delicious food.

Those looking for a sweet treat can check out Whisked Away Pancakes or head over to The Station’s No.1 coffee shop, Wildflower for freshly baked goods and great coffee.

The ECB SuperUtes will also be making an appearance at The Platform, for motorheads to get up close and personal with these exceptional vehicles.

Positioned around the circuit, fans can expect a culinary mix of classic racetrack dishes, including doughnuts, hot dogs, chips and slushies, combined with food trucks offering a medley of street food feasts, from Greek and Italian to Korean and Asian cuisines.

To provide relief from the heat, plenty of vendors will include fresh juices, frozen cokes, soft drinks and ice creams in their offering.
