Retirement for the ACTIVE Over 55s

Think you're too young for a retirement village? Well, keep an open mind and read on, because whatever your preconceived ideas, modern retirement villages will challenge them. Gone are the days of cramped, cookie-cutter units and a continual barrage of organised fun, fun, fun. A generation of spritely retirees with high expectations and the means to pay for quality have created fierce competition within the retirement village sector. However, trying to find a village that delivers what you need can be anything but straightforward.

With this in mind, we would like to introduce you to Marmong Waters: a little hidden gem on the northern shores of Lake Macquarie that caters for the active over 55s.

Location, Location! Marmong Waters’ beautifully designed Independent Living Units are located just 250m from Marmong Point Marina. If you’re all about the water, then this is the locale for you! Pop the kayak on the trolley and wander down to Lake Macquarie, just 100m from the village entrance.

For bike-riders, Warners Bay cafés are an easy 8km pedal on good level pathways around the lakefront, or if you’re keen for a walk, there are several starting from your front door. Wander along the foreshore to Teralba, or all the way to Speers Point if you’re feeling fit. You might prefer to stroll along the lake’s edge at Marmong Point, or pull on your hiking boots and choose a trail in Lake Macquarie State Recreation Area. All this is after you’ve walked the dog of course: Booragul off-leash dog exercise area is a mere 200 meters away via a shady waterfront track.

Spacious and Light-filled. But what about the village itself? The elevated grounds at Marmong Waters catch the afternoon breeze and provide beautiful views over Lake Macquarie and/or Marmong Creek Reserve. As for the Independent Living Units, there’s a choice of six beautiful floor plans with two or three bedrooms and single or double lock-up garage – all single level. With above-average floor space and soaring ceilings, you won’t feel like you’ve downsized at all.

The Community Spirit. The stunning Community & Recreation Centre is the thriving hub of Marmong Waters. Residents can take advantage of the immaculate indoor heated pool and gymnasium or choose to participate in regular aqua-aerobics and heart-moves fitness classes. Pampering options are all at your fingertips with their very popular visiting masseuse, hairdresser and beautician. Also on-site are consulting rooms for GPs and allied health professionals.

Residents who are still actively involved in business may utilise a specially designed office space. A boardroom/private dining room is available for corporate meetings and functions and is the setting for regular games and arts and crafts gatherings.

For those who enjoy the social interaction of a game of bowls, a bowling green is currently under construction next to a driving range. For those days when it’s just too wet for a roll-up, perhaps a movie in the theatre room is a better option!

A range of dining and lounge areas provide the perfect place to meet friends for morning tea or sunset drinks. A grand piano provides a wonderful opportunity for those who play and is available for special functions and concerts. In addition, BBQ facilities are available for families to enjoy a picnic in the great outdoors, and a children’s playground will make the grandkids feel welcome.

OPEN DAY Marmong Waters is holding an open day on 2 November to celebrate the Stage 7 release. Come along for a free tour and BBQ and get ready to challenge your ideas!
