A Unique Performance by Tishani Doshi

Newcastle Writers Festival are thrilled to host a special event on 7 August at 7.30pm at the Playhouse with award-winning Indian-Welsh writer and dancer Tishani Doshi. This intimate event will include dance inspired by Tishani's most recent novel Small Days and Nights as well as poetry from her best-selling collection Girls Are Coming Out of the Woods.

The performance will be followed by a conversation facilitated by festival director Rosemarie Milsom. Tishani is not well-known in Australia, but is one of Asia's most respected writers, especially for speaking out about women's issues in India, where she lives. This event is supported by the Australia Council for the Arts and the University of Newcastle's School of Humanities and Social Science.
