The party to end all parties comes to town next month when the world-renown Spiegeltent returns to Newcastle's Civic Park for another huge month of top-shelf comedy, music, cabaret, dance and much more from Thursday 23 May until Sunday 16 June 2019.
The four-week festival is headlined by the seductive new cabaret extravaganza, Deluxe Deluxe, from the award-winning creators of Blanc de Blanc that enthralled audiences at The Spiegeltent Newcastle in 2018.
It’s a side-splittingly funny, sexy and definitely adults-only variety-spectacular that is sure to entertain and enthral audiences.
Deluxe Deluxe is hosted by world-renowned artist, Scot Nery (HBO Comedy Festival and TV’s The Tonight Show) and features the glitterati of international circus and cabaret talent including aerial artist, Penelope Elena from Germany; the witty vocal stylings of, Laura Hughes and rule-bending ‘invertebrate’, Anthony Rodriguez (both from the USA); Australian exotic temptress, Zoe Marshall; the beautiful-dangerous tigress, Ailona from Russia and the UK’s drop-dead-gorgeous, Busola.
“After Newcastle couldn’t get enough of Blanc de Blanc last year, we’re excited to announce that the Spiegeltent is returning with an even crazier headline show,” said Strut & Fret’s Founding Director, Scott Maidment.
Deluxe Deluxe promises to deliver an evening beyond even the wildest imagination, but the wider festival line-up offers a myriad of world-class comedy, music and cabaret acts as well. The most difficult decision will be choosing which shows to go to – or maybe just go to them all!
“Added to this is a program of sensational music and big-name comedy – what more could audiences ask for? This is certainly a not-to-be-missed experience for 2019 that is already selling fast,” said Maidment.
The program lineup includes American blues and roots sensation, Charley Crockett, who will be joined by Sienna Ferrell to make their Newcastle debut under the beautiful Victoria Spiegeltent.
Australian comedy legends Wil Anderson, Dave Hughes, Matt Okine, Rhys Nicholson and Joel Creasey, are also part of this year’s stellar line-up performing at The Spiegeltent Newcastle.
Dutch for ‘mirror tent’, the Spiegeltent originated in Belgium in the late 19th century as a travelling entertainment venue. The exquisite Victoria Spiegeltent is an extravagant big top tent decorated with mirrors, stained glass, velvet and brocade with a beautifully glamorous old-world feel.
