With a famous flourish, a vaguely criminal team of stooge farmers: “Boggis and Bunce and Bean. One fat, one short and one lean” wage war on a cunning band of frenzied colleges. Whatever their prowess as poultry farmers, their sole objective is the extermination of our hero--the noble, the clever, the Fantastic Mr Fox!
Outwitted at every turn, the farmer’s ploys backfire, for Mr Fox devises a plan which will ensure full stomachs for not only his family but all his friends, who celebrate with a sumptuous feast.
Hunter Drama is synonymous with presenting Dahl's most loved characters on stage, and now, following 2018’s highly successful Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Newcastle’s Civic Playhouse stage will be transformed into the den and tunnels where Mr Fox keeps his family one step ahead of those dreadful farmers.
“I’ve had great success combining Dahl’s most loved stories with young performers, and this version of Fantastic Mr Fox will not be like any version you would have seen before,” said Director and Founder of Hunter Drama, Daniel Stoddart.
“Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox is the perfect family adventure for the April School holidays and will be sure to delight and provide a tremendous spectacle for Dahl lovers whether they be four or 104.
Featuring 30 outstanding young performers aged 8 to 18, a 70’s disco soundtrack, the play has been adapted for the stage by David Wood and will be directed and designed by Daniel Stoddart. The production crew headed by costume designer Kaswyn Hunt, sound designer Allon Silove and set designer Marion Giles will transport the audience into a fantasy world of fun and adventure with a modern twist.
