Novocastrian Dads Who Drum

July 17, 2017

The Earthen Rhythms weekly kids drumming class is proving to be just as popular with adults, who are joining in the class and drumming alongside their children. Surprisingly, the number of Newcastle Dads

currently attending the weekly drumming class is on the rise, and now classes are starting to appeal to grandparents as well!

The Earthen Rhythms Kids class, which is held every Tuesday afternoon in Hamilton, is currently the only regular African drumming class held for children in the Newcastle area. And, while drumming lessons provide a strong foundation in music skills for students to later learn any instrument, the Earthen Rhythms kids class is also fostering positive intergenerational bonds between kids and their grownup.

New students (and their parent, grandparent or carer) are welcome to come and try a class once the program kicks off again Term 3 on Tuesday 18th July 2017. Come early and meet up for a hot drink at the kid friendly Commons Café before class starts.

The dynamic kids drumming classes will help your child foster musical and life skills. These include:

  • Developing musical & rhythm skills

  • Developing hand-eye coordination

  • inspiring their musical creativity

  • Respect, listening and learning skills

  • Fun and creativity

  • Provide social inclusion

  • Leadership and knowing their place in the group
