A Modern Take on Japanese Cuisine

At Nagisa Japanese Restaurant, you will experience the delightful fusion of traditional Japanese food with contemporary attitude in a culturally rich environment and with wonderful views of the harbour.

Located on The Boardwalk in Honeysuckle, Nagisa Japanese Restaurant serves up a modern take on a rich history of cuisine along with the exotic mix of the teppanyaki bar, fresh sashimi and sushi, rare Japanese craft beers, whisky and sake, degustation menus, banquets and a venue for group functions.

Chef Tetsuhiko Namba learned the traditions of Japanese food in Tokyo, and travelled the world before arriving in Newcastle where he decided to open his Honeysuckle restaurant with son Taiyo and his close friend Chef Chris Schofield.

Together they have created a unique dining establishment that is fast gaining a reputation for serving up elegant and traditional Japanese dishes with a twist of modern and even edgy flavours. Offering both indoor seating and outdoor dining with harbour views, here nature and culture come together in the food and the design of the space, with clever use of marble and steel, low lighting, soft furnishings and fabrics that soften the ceiling and walls - all seamlessly blending together to complement the unique harbour location and views.

Nagisa is perfect for that casual long lunch, executive meals, romantic dinner and wonderful banquets and group functions.  Loaded with quality and the exotic, the drinks menu includes carefully selected Japanese craft beers and sake, award-winning Japanese whiskey, a full range of wines and a cocktail bar that visitors can enjoy with a light meal through to degustation menus.

Nagisa is culturally rich, dynamic and modern - all of which are evident in the generations of family members involved in the restaurant, just as it is in the preparation and presentation of the cuisine.  It’s easy to see why Nagisa has become a highlight on the Newcastle, and Honeysuckle, dining scene.
