Chef Tetsuhiko Namba learned the traditions of Japanese food in Tokyo, and travelled the world before arriving in Newcastle where he decided to open his Honeysuckle restaurant with son Taiyo and his close friend Chef Chris Schofield.
Together they have created a unique dining establishment that is fast gaining a reputation for serving up elegant and traditional Japanese dishes with a twist of modern and even edgy flavours. Offering both indoor seating and outdoor dining with harbour views, here nature and culture come together in the food and the design of the space, with clever use of marble and steel, low lighting, soft furnishings and fabrics that soften the ceiling and walls - all seamlessly blending together to complement the unique harbour location and views.
