AUTUMN is here and it’s time to prepare for trans-seasonal dressing. One place to ease yourself into winter and warmer clothing is at Raid My Wardrobe’s, first Newcastle market for the year. On March 13, the popular, quality, women’s preloved event with 50 stalls will be packed with high-end clothing shoes,
handbags, shoes, jewellery and accessories.
With hundreds of preloved pieces on sale - from brands like Sass & Bide, Lisa Ho, Leona Edmiston, Veronika Maine, Alannah Hill, Mimco and Vintage - finding a jacket, ballet flats, pants or knit to help you go from crisp mornings to warm afternoons will be a breeze.
For this market, Raid My Wardrobe founder Rachel Prest has partnered with The Sista Code’s charity organisation Got Your Back Sista, which helps women to start their lives again after escaping domestic violence.
Ms Prest said she had chosen Got Your Back Sista because it brought awareness about the real difficulties some women face and how women can help each other. At the end of the day, stallholders would donate some quality clothing, shoes and handbags to the charity.
"We feel privileged knowing we are gifting women escaping domestic violence with essential clothing items that can assist with their self-dignity and worth during such a difficult time," Ms Prest said.
The Sista Code’s founder Melissa Histon said the partnership was a generous gesture as women often left violent partners with nothing but the clothes on their back.
“These donations are a start to helping these women get back on their feet. On the day, we are also asking people to bring along personal care items, which we will make into bathroom packs to give to women in local refuges,” she said.
Raid My Wardrobe, in partnership with The Sista Code is on Sunday, March 13, at Newcastle Basketball Stadium, corner of Curley and Young roads, Broadmeadow, 10am to 1pm. Entry is $5 at the door, or
