If you’ve admired the colourful signage strategically positioned around Hamilton or enjoyed the free Wi-Fi in Beaumont St, then you’ve been touched by the fine ork of the Hamilton Chamber!
A not-for-profit goup overseen by an elected committee of volunteers selected from their membership base, the Chambers mission is to create a positive, active environment that stimulates economic and social life in the Hamilton City Centre.
Operating for over 10 years, the Chamber has a modest staff and a group of active volunteers to manage their day to day activities. A business advocacy group tasked with driving the Hamilton community forward and revitalising this great suburb, the Chamber utilises place-making projects, public events, partnerships with business and organisations, and strategic planning to help bring life into the Hamilton CBD.
Some of their best known projects include:
Funded through the township of Hamilton's business rate levy collected from the CBD Area and incorporating the commercial zone in Beaumont Street, the Chamber also receives some membership funding, with a small annual fee payable by those who choose to become members. As an independent organisation, the Chamber is also eligible to seek grants and corporate sponsorships for programs, and to undertake fee-for-service activities. The Chamber encourages all local businesses to consider joining the group to share ideas and help make this vibrant community the envy of all other areas!
