Lake Macquarie Running Festival


Lake Macquarie Running Festival The Lake Macquarie Half Marathon commenced in 1984 and this year will see the 31st consecutive running of the event. In 2010 the event was renamed the Lake Macquarie Running Festival to embrace the growing nature of the event, which was expanded to include a 10.5km Fun Run and 4km Kids Scamper.

Lake Macquarie Running Festival has previously enjoyed over 2800 runners and will this year run on Sunday the 30th of August. The festival is well positioned within the running calendar to take advantage of the Sydney Marathon that will be held a few weeks later and Sydney’s City To Surf held a few weeks prior.

The festival is designed to enable the broader community and families to compete while also attracting athletes of an international standard. Previous competitors have included Steve Moneghetti and triathlete Kristin Molloy, as well as local international stair runner Angela Leadbeatter.

This years event also sees the inclusion of fundraising for thoses competitors who wish use the event to raise funds for charity.

The scenic course follows The Esplanade at Warners Bay and is adjacent to the beautiful foreshore of Lake Macquarie. It is a multi loop course that is completely free of traffic. For more information about races, entry and the course map visit www.lakemacrunning.com
