Just as the name depicts, Inner City Winemakers brings the cellar door and winery experience to inner city Newcastle.
Located in Church St, Wickham, and within easy walking distance of Newcastle’s CBD and foreshore, Inner City Winemakers is a cellar door and winery in one – providing locals and visitors with a unique opportunity to sample a wonderful range of wines.
Owner and winemaker Rob Wilce has been sourcing grapes from a number of well-known wine regions, such as the Hunter Valley, King Valley, Tenterfield and Orange since 2009.
With this diversity Rob has been able to craft an extensive collection of wines, ranging from sparkling reds and whites through to the fortified variety. Initially wines were produced off-site but in March 2014 they began making wine at the onsite winery in Wickham.
Specialising in wine tastings that include wine appreciation as well as the art of wine and food pairing, Inner City Winemakers cater for all situations from individuals and small group tastings to tours and conference groups for up to 50 people.
Recognised for supporting the local art community, Inner City Winemakers hold regular art exhibitions as well as musical evenings promoting Newcastle’s diverse artistic talent. The art and wine concept is
so popular that gallery openings are being held every 5-6 weeks and the always popular cheese and wine tasting nights take place every 2 months. The wine labels also depict the work of those local artists not often found in your average lounge-room.
This unique and superbly blended environment of wine, art, music and wonderful people make this inner city gem a must visit – so ‘pop in’ for wine tastings Tuesday to Sunday and stock up your wine cellar.
