Windsor's 80 Years of Blind Innovation Future Proofing Newcastle

For almost 80 years, Newcastle's Windsor Blinds, Awnings and Shutters has been a frontrunner in design and technology for window coverings. Owner Craig Young has been immersed in the industry since childhood, learning from his innovative father, B.J Young (Bill), about craftsmanship, customer service, and running a business.

The family behind Windsor has always been at the forefront. After returning from WWII in 1946, Bill built the company, patriotically naming it after Windsor Castle. He quickly made his mark, patenting the Steel Curved Venetian Blind Slat design in 1967 and being the first to use Terylene cables and tapes, propelling Windsor as a leader in blind manufacturing innovation.

Though Bill passed away in 2013, Craig and his wife Zdenka have carried on the legacy since 2011, relocating the premises and expanding the product range.

"Craig's extensive experience allows us to craft bespoke window covering solutions unlike many competitors," said Zdenka.

"As our climate changes, more people want energy-efficient, safe options to future-proof their homes. We work directly with builders for new constructions and individual clients needing custom solutions like automated awnings and shutters."

Windsor offers an extensive high-quality range, including the ever popular plantation shutters in various materials, the dual Duo Roller Blinds for day/night use, Ziptrak outdoor blinds, and the unique Veri Shades, which combine curtain style with blind versatility.

With the latest tech options and a longstanding reputation, Windsor anticipates a busy summer.

"We make sure to deliver the best," Zdenka affirmed.

"Our customers, some for generations, expect it from Windsor's history

of innovation."
